Little Things

Most mornings at home are business as usual. Same or similar routine for the most part. Once you have a baby, this is even more in effect because babies are very much on a schedule (either of their own or one you mold them to…whole other post trust me). Madison is now getting to where she can pretty much sleep all night in her crib in her room. She wakes up every morning around 4:45 to 5am, which I would like to point out is about an hour before I would normally wake up. Thankfully it’s not 3 or 4 times a night, so I won’t complain (nor did I complain when it was a couple times a night). Usually my wife hears her on the monitor for a while and then decides when it’s time for me to go collect her. I’ve noticed recently when I go to Madi’s room that she’s usually scooted right up to the baby monitor in the crib and is crying directly into it. I think she’s figured out that if she talks into it we will eventually come. Either that or she’s attracted to the green light on the bottom of it.

This morning I went to go get her and bring her back to our room as usual. I then normally hand her to her mother who begins feeding her. This normally sends her into a milk induced coma of sorts and she’s right back to sleep. I’m usually in the bathroom trying to wake up, praying to the gods of toothpaste and deodorant that I don’t offend anyone at work today. When I’m done with my morning ritual, I usually check on Ivori and Madi in the room and they’re usually asleep next to each other. It’s quite sweet I gotta tell ya. But today was something that might actually give you a cavity.

I come into the room and Ivori is on her side and Madison is also on her side but face to face with her mother. Madi has one of her arms out and her little hand is touching mommies face. Next thing I know, Madi is rubbing Ivori’s face with the back of her hand … in her sleep!!! Ivori isn’t waking up either which is extraordinary, cuz normally you can’t touch her face when she’s sleeping (don’t ask me how I know this). Now I don’t know if they do this every morning, but I’ve never seen it before today so I was a little mesmerized. It’s almost indescribable how adorable it was. I was almost late for work cuz I was just standing there watching them for what seemed like it a few minutes before one of them sighed and rolled the other way.

I wish I had a picture of it, but I would not be here telling you about it, so let’s be glad that I didn’t do that. You kinda had to be there. Which you probably never will be, so you’re just going to have to take my word for it: it was awesome!
